Manuchar’s version of the facts in the so-called “Paradise Papers"
Manuchar NV and some of its directors have been featured in the “Paradise Papers”, which is defined as “amajor global collaboration reveals secrets from one of the world’s most prestigious offshore law firms, a specialized trust company and 19 company registries in secrecy jurisdictions”, according to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
Even though Manuchar tried to work with ICIJ to ensure the information about Manuchar NV and its directors is current and accurate, they only agreed to include disclaimers that the company incorporated in Malta is no longer active.
As Manuchar and its directors have no intention to hide anything and have not been involved in any wrongdoing, we want to share our version of the facts:
- To strengthen and manage our international trade in cement effectively, in 2013 we hired a team of two experienced professionals based in Malta. These experts ran our cement trade on behalf of Manuchar NV, leveraging their extensive knowledge and understanding of the local market.
- To further streamline administrative processes, also in 2013 we established a representative office in Malta and all operations were accounted for and fully taxed in Belgium, where Manuchar NV is headquartered and our dedicated back-office teams handled business files.
- We closed the representative office in Malta in 2022.
